Greetings Interpreters,

Hello Interpreters,
Whew—it’s been a hot one here in Pasco! With temperatures soaring across the Tri-Cities, we hope you’re staying cool, hydrated, and safe. Whether you’re working in clinics or out in the community, we appreciate all that you do to support those who rely on language access.
We’re here with fresh updates, a creative CE course, and a timely story affecting many of the families we serve.

Your Voice Matters—And It’s Making a Difference!
We’ve been listening closely to your feedback, and we’re excited to share that changes to the pay rate for in-person Spanish appointments are on the horizon. Details are still being finalized, but we want you to know:
Your voice has been heard.
You’ve consistently shown up for the community with professionalism and heart—and we’re working hard to reflect that commitment with improved compensation. Stay tuned for official updates soon!

Upcoming CE Opportunity: Netflix and Learn
🎥 Netflix and Learn: Unconventional Resources for Learning Medical Terminology
This fun and practical session explores how shows and streaming content can help sharpen your medical vocabulary. Perfect for interpreters who enjoy learning in creative ways!

Community Insight: Local ICE Arrest Raises Awareness
A recent Tri-City Herald article tells the story of a beloved father and business owner detained by ICE during an immigration appointment in the Tri-Cities. His situation has sparked community concern and offers an important reminder:
An arrest by immigration authorities does not necessarily lead to deportation.
Many people are placed into immigration court proceedings, where they may be eligible for legal protections. As interpreters working with immigrant communities, staying informed about these realities helps us serve with understanding and compassion.

High-Priority In-Person Assignments
The following clinics are in urgent need of in-person interpreters, as they do not have remote options and may cancel appointments without coverage:
If you’re available to take appointments at these clinics, your support would be deeply appreciated.

Friendly Reminders
“Interpreters don’t just speak the language—they carry the story, the comfort, and the understanding that bridges lives.”

Thank you for being such a vital part of the WSI interpreter community. Stay cool this summer—we’re proud to support you!

Warmly,
The WSI Team
